Piedmont International used its quick guards and scrappy defense to convert turnovers into points and hold Blue Lights at bay 93-79 in Apex Tuesday night.

As has often been the case, the Thoroughbreds (9-12) were somewhat sluggish out of the gate, allowing the Bruins to take control early on. Devon Allicott kept BLC in the contest, scoring the team's first seven points. BLC managed a flurry midway through the half and tied the game once before the Bruins pulled away again for a 45-30 halftime lead.

PIU continued in its speedy fast break in the second half and led by as many as 21 points before the Herd rallied to cut it to eight, largely on driving layups by Darian Williams. Williams' drives also led him to the free throw line where he had 11 of his game-high 22 points. But that was as close as the Thoroughbreds could muster it as Piedmont pulled away for the final margin.

Chance Jamison came off the bench to contribute 16 points, all in the second half. Allicott finished with 13 points, 11 of them in the first half. Jawan Browder added eight. Curtis Coleman, Jr. led the Bruins with 15.

Blue Lights has accepted an invitation to play in the 2020 Bible College National Invitational Tournament near Chicago. The Thoroughbreds will open against Appalachian Bible on Thursday February 13 at 5:00 pm.
