Thomas Nelson Community College of Hampton, Virginia is now the fifth charter member of the New South Athletic Conference.
TNCC joins Blue Lights College, Carolina Christian College, Hosanna Bible College, and Virginia University of Lynchburg for the 2020-21 academic year. Discussions with other schools continue in anticipation of play beginning this fall.
“I am very pleased that Thomas Nelson has joined the NSAC,” said Mike Davis, athletic director at Blue Lights College and director of the conference. “(Men’s basketball) Coach Chris Moore is building a solid program there, and the Gators will be a force to be reckoned with night in and night out.”
Men’s basketball will be the first sport sanctioned by the NSAC, culminating with the inaugural NSAC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament February 12 and 13, 2021, in Durham.
Women’s basketball is now in the planning stages for the 2021-22 season.
While the beginning of athletic competition is still contingent upon the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, conference members remain hopeful that a full season and the tournament will be completed.
