On Thursday night, Blue Lights men's basketball players gathered in the best way they could during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, via a webcast, to encourage each other and be recognized for their accomplishments during the 2019-20 season.

Coach Mario Pharr had polled his players to see who stood out in a variety of categories and offered congratulations:
--Most Outstanding Teammate: Chris Dickey
--Most Outstanding Leader: Kenny Anderson
--Best Sportsmanship: Tye Howard
--Outstanding Defense Award: JB Ezzell-Upchurch
--Outstanding Offense Award: Kenny Anderson
--Most Valuable Player: Chris Dickey
--Most Improved Player (tie): Victor Ngong and Devon Allicott
--Best Swag: Terence "TJ" Johnson

Coach Mario Pharr wasn't going to let some virus shut down the post-season festivities. "Due to this pandemic, a lot of adjustments had to be made," said Pharr, "but I still wanted to give some closure to this season and what better way than a Zoom Banquet."

"I felt it was a pretty good success despite of the circumstances," added the head coach. "Many accolades were given. It was great to see everyone and show our appreciation of such a tremendously successful season. I'm glad we were able to have it."

BLC President Jacques Gilbert also expressed his gratitude for the past season.

"The season may have ended, but the race continues," said Gilbert. "I’m grateful for Coach Mario, Coach Pulley, and Coach Rod for their faithfulness and contribution to our school mission and vision. This program has now elevated to another level thanks to the commitment and dedication of AD Mike Davis, coaches, and players. The award program facilitated by Coach Mario is yet another example of his heart for our students. I continue to be excited about the future. The best is yet to come."

With the accolades for past glories done, Pharr summed it up best:

"Now on to next season!"
