It was only December 1, but Santa wasted no time this year in dropping off his big bag at Blue Lights College. On Tuesday, Academy Sports + Outdoors presented BLC athletes with more than $5000 worth of athletic equipment including basketballs, athletic tape kits, workout materials, first aid kits, wrestling knee pads, headgear, and much more. “Santa Liza” Barrett, Senior Regional Marketing Specialist with Academy, made the presentation at the Apex store.
Representing BLC were President Jacques Gilbert, Athletic Director Mike Davis, Men’s Basketball Coach Mario Pharr, basketball team members Kenny Anderson and Christian Baker, Wrestling Coach Brandon Rosas, and wrestlers DeShawn Jones and Shylique Perry.
“For a young school such as ours, this kind of gift from Academy makes all the difference in the world,” said Davis. “We are truly grateful and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Academy.”
