Blue Lights broke open a tight game in the second half to put away a talented University Prep squad 88-71 Tuesday night in Apex.

After trailing by as many as seven points, the Thoroughbreds (1-2, 0-1 NSAC) scratched back to tie the game at 39 heading into halftime. BLC used a balanced attack following the break, flipping turnovers into points to claim its first win of the season. The final score proved to be the largest margin of the game.

Sophomore Kenny Anderson led all scorers with 21 points. Freshmen Jeremiah Baker and Denzel Jacobson, former teammates at Apex High, both posted double doubles: Baker contributed 17 points along with 10 rebounds while Jacobson chipped in 13 points and grabbed 13 boards. Mason Rumph added 14 points and Da'Quon Holloway posted 11.

Brandon Poggolio led the Panthers (7-6) with 20 points.

BLC's next game is Tuesday, February 2 when the Thoroughbreds host Mid-Atlantic Christian in a New South Athletic Conference contest.
